The GPHA History Webpage is dedicated to the documentation of our neighborhood's history.  Why, you may ask, would be the reason for doing so?

a.      Area has a rich history

b.      Fear of loss of knowledge

Many people in years past have done a lot of hard work researching and gathering information including Diane Ellis and Dorothy Scott Johnson.  I did not want this hard work to just lay in a folder or box somewhere or to risk that it might be thrown away.

Diane graciously donated all the information she had at her disposal to the Gladstone Place Homeowners Association.  I wanted to post selected historical material on the GPHA website but it appeared to me to be too much of an undertaking so a small group of novice historians rolled up their sleeves to help me and got to work.  This group sorted through what Diane had gathered over the years, files were uploaded to the website and all materials were archived onto a thumbdrive and turned over to the Association for safekeeping.

I want to thank the following people from the bottom of my heart.  Without their dedication and interest in this project, this could not have been done - Mark Mitchell, Tom Kahlert, John Newton and Christy Elmore.

Hope that you find the GPHA History Webpage of interest and that you learn something new that you did not know before.  Enjoy!

Sincerely,

Inge Mitchell, GPHOA President (2020 - 2023)
